WHY IS ANDALUCIA SO ATTRACTIVE FOR STUDENTS? (COMPOSITION 2)

Andalucia is a region in the south of Spain. It has all: beautiful national parks, a sandy coastline, iconic architecture such as "Alhambra"...

Granada is one provinve in Andalucia. Situated in the west, it has a prestigious university, considered one of the best in Spain. People came from all the world came here to study. Granada has the beach in hour and the highest mountain in the peninsulain another hour. Without forgetting the charm that the city has by itself and it is the capital of the province.

Besides, Andalucia is not very expensive as other comunities in Spain. For example, the cost of the flats varies, but, 250€ to 300€ a month for a decent city centre room is the current rate. However, Málaga is a little more expensive due to tourism.

To sum up, Andalucia is so beautiful. Either to study or to visit, you will fall in love with it.

NEVER GIVE UP! (COMMENT 6)

We are facing problems and difficulties every day, most of which are easy to solve with more or less effort. But there are these problems, those problems that we can’t solve and stay there. We try, try and try it and nothing.

It is easy to say “don’t give up”, but we know that it is more complicated than this to do. The problem is bigger and bigger, and we don’t just know what to do. We do not ask for help because of our pride. We think that tomorrow, would be another day, and it would disappear alone. We wake up, and we know that it is again, and we start to panic.

It is like when we have a test, and we say it is in one week, "I have a lot of time", we believe. And the last night before the test, we start crying and panicking and thinking "Why didn't I start some days before?".

We must know to give a solution to a problem just at the moment that we have it. And if we do not have them, we should think of answers in the next few days. And if you have the same problem as my example, you should organize your time.

DIGITAL CURRENCIES (COMMENT 5)

Little by little, the world is changing. We passed from pesetas to euros, and in the future to digital money. And how knows?, all people could have the same money and travelling would not be difficult regarding the exchange of currency money from one type to another type.

Although there is fraud about this theme, it is a reality that they are having success. The most famous digital money is Bitcoin. In his starts in 2009, its value was 0.0026 euros, but now, nowadays it has a value of 52.294,40 euros. We know that the price is always changing but it is obviously still too much money.

Others cryptocoins have not the same chance, and did not progress. And talking about this issue, there are people who create new cryptocoins to generate expectations and only steal.

In the future, I want to invest on this new currency. As time passes, more comfort will come and everything will be easier for us. We have been living in a capitalist society, we only must accept it.

HAPPINEES (COMMENT 4)

Nowadays, we don't pay much attention if we are really happy or just think we are happy. We try to fill that void with things that make us happy for a short time, then we return to search for that happiness. We simply care about feeling good and that our people are good.

So, what makes us happy? We try to search for happiness through material things without realizing that we really find it in such insignificant things, but when we lose these things, it makes us feel as if we are missing a piece of ourselves.

Although we cannot forget that to live a comfortable life and living in this capitalist society we need money. Money does not give us happiness but it helps to maintain it. It is not the same to worry about not being able to feed your children and pay for other necessary things, than to be worried about not being able to buy the latest generation mobile.

In conclusion, it is easy to be happy being with the people we love and doing the things that we are passionate of, the really difficult thing from my point of view is how to maintain it.

LIMITS(COMMENT 3)

We set our own limits every moment, we always know that we can give more of ourselves. We know our capabilities and what we are capable of doing.

Setting goals is fine, we can achieve them little by little, but we know that everything is more complicated than that. We prefer doing anything productive or being with friends and forgetting our obligations with a simple: it is too much or a similar short phrase.

Most of the time we think that there is no time to do homework or when you see that it is 11:55 and you see that the delivery time is at 12 o'clock, we understand that the problem was not time but lack of interest with which we did it and let time pass.

To sum up, we must organize time fundamentally and above all we must put more interest in the studies and the tasks we have to do and in the future we will achieve our dreams.

DO YOU LIKE SCIENCE FICTION STORIES/FILMS? WHY? (COMPOSITION 1)

 A few years ago, on a dark winter Friday night, I was really bored, when suddenly, I saw a fragment of a Star Wars film. I used to think that type of films was boring. But that night decided to see the first film of the saga.

It was incredible, there was action and drama, there were a lot of explosions. After that night I watched all the saga in the next weeks. What I like the most are superhero films. Last Friday, I went with my friends to the cinema to watch "Venom 2". Also, I like "Avatar" and I am expecting the second part.

I do not like all the films of the kind. For example, I hate "Matrix" or "Back to the future". I will never see them in my life.

To sum up, I like the films that have a good plot, action, and a little drama. But I do not read anything about this type.

PAU GASOL (COMMENT 2)

Pau Gasol was born on 6th July 1980 in Barcelona, Spain. He started to play basketball when he was at school. In 1997, at the age of 16, he enter FC Barcelona Basketball. Although in the past some American universities offered him to study there with a scholarship, it was in 2001 when he moved to the United States to play in the team Memphis Grizzlies.

Also, he played at Angeles Lakers, where he met his good friend Kobe Bryant, who once said “Pau Gasol is incredible”, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, and Portland Trail Blazers. He was the second Spanish player at the NBA. This year, he returned to Spain playing one more time with the FC Barcelona Basketball.

After 24 years playing basketball, One World Cup (2006), two NBA rings, three Eurobasket (2009, 2011, and 2015), three ACB leagues (1999, 2001, 2021), and a Cup’s King (2001) he has decided to retire from the basketball this October.

Personally, searching for information about Pau Gasol I have seen what a splendid player he has been, apart from how he helps society, and I can’t understand why the NBA hasn't included him at the list top-75 best NBA’s players in history. He must be in it.

SUMMER (COMMENT 1)

Next week, high school is starting, which means that the summer is over. The summer has been different from the others, but I have enjoyed this year more.

My summer started when I went to the cottage of a friend of mine. I spent the day laughing and dancing. On 25th June it was Andrea’s birthday. On July 19th I went to Salobreña, and we decided to go to a beach restaurant, and there I had a little dispute. They didn’t give me the hamburger until one hour later. On the 23rd, I went to the Molvizar’s festivities, where I met my friends.

On August 1st, I went to Isla Magica and Agua Magica. My day started at 4 am, and I arrived in Sevilla at 11 am. I went to an attraction called Jaguar. I was nervous, but it was incredible. I returned to Lobres the next day at 2 am. Although, all summer wasn’t great. I had to go to emergencies due to an infection in one of my teeth surgeries. The last day was my birthday.

The summer has gone, but we can enjoy it a little more, not forgetting the difficult and desperate current situation.

A NEW YEAR

This is the last year I am in high school. Now I am in 2º Bachillerato.

Boot Camps COMPOSITION 8

For a start, I would like to explain what a boot camp is. A boot camp is a place where boys and girls go when their parents think that they have a misbehaviour. Also, boot camps are part of the correctional and penal system of some countries. These programs are based in the military recruit training camps. Are boot camps a good idea?

Personally, I think that is not a good idea. In the majority of the cases, it doesn't work. Their behaviour does not change and force them is not a good idea.

In USA, they are very popular, but also, very critized. Teenagers go there to bee free of higher prison sentences. State-run boot camps were banned in Florida on 2006, because Martin Lee Anderson, a 14-year-old boy died while he was in one. He was physical collapsed due to the training, but the instructors beat him and encouraged him to continue. They tried to revive him with ammonia, but he suffocated. The parents had signed a contract authorizing the use of physical force.

Although there are different types of boot camps, the ones that are used to change the misbehaviour will be banned. We have other solutions to change and help teenagers not using violence.

We Are Still Standing (COMMENT 14)

We are still standing; it is true. But, how much has our daily life changed? Everybody knows that life has changed too much; our habits, our plans, our ways to socialize... are not as they were two years ago.

If someone had told us in 2018 that our lives would drastically change in just two years, we would probably have thought that he was mad. After all, we have gone through with this pandemic due to COVID-19, it is good news to hear that thanks to the vaccines and all our efforts we are beating the coronavirus. Regarding vaccines, I do not understand why people are against them. Since the first vaccine has discovered, the vaccines have saved millions of lives.

To sum up, after a year through this horrible pandemic, we have to be honest and admit that, every day mistakes are still made. Therefore, we should be more concerned than before and stay home these Easter holidays.

GRANADA FC, our Local Heroes!! (COMMENT 13)

For a start, I am going to write about Granada FC. It was created on 14th April. Indeed, it is the same date as the Spanish Second Republic. What a coincidence! Nowadays, the football team plays in Primera División, as Premier League. Last year, it beat some important and strong teams as the Valencia CF or the Athletic Club.

Currently, they are doing an excellent season in LaLiga and the Europe League. I am not too much into football, but I think that they deserve it because of the sacrifice, and effort that they are doing in each match. On the whole, although I do not like football very much, I am proud of our local football team. Besides, I remember when I went to Los Carmenes with my sister. We enjoyed a good time there watching a great match.

Time to be Honest (COMMENT 12)

What can I say about the third term? It is a well-known fact that it is the final and the most difficult term. I do not know why, but it might be due to the fatigue of the school year. Or just it is springtime, and we are more excited.

This third term is extremely challenging for me since I have my English and French exams to pass the B1 certification. How nervous I am !! Nevertheless, I promise I will do my best. As well, during this final term, I have to do much practice since I get highly nervous when I am under exam conditions.

All in all, I will study and do my homework to get good marks, because in the final term they are more important. My English teacher is always telling us that the party is over, so all of us should do our best to reach the summit.

Hi Carmen Rojas,

How's life in Motril? We haven't spoken for ages! The last time was in your house when we took a cup of coffee. Sorry, I haven't visited you, but I have had a lot of exams and projects. Currently, I have some free time.

At the moment, I'm thinking about my summer holidays. Do you remember last year? You said something about going to France to spend holidays there with some friends of yours. We should go this year. Indeed, I could improve my French.

I think that we can also call Andrea. We will be able to rent a car, she has had her driving license for three years, and travel around all the country. We can stop in Paris to visit the Eiffel Tower. As well, we can go to Normandy, because I have seen an interesting program about it. I hope that you will be interested in it.  MAKEY FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

Nowadays, we can communicate or meet people from other countries thanks to apps like Facebook or Instagram, we can start a conversation with just a click.

On the one hand, meeting foreign people must be extremely curious. You learn about the live in their countries as well about their customs. Besides, in a future how knows, if your friendship is fine, you will be able to visit them

On the other hand, it can be dangerous. We do not know how they really are. Let's dream. You start chatting with a girl, Kate. She is 16 years old, like you. She is interested in the same things as you. What a coincidence! Kate can also be Bob, who is 40 years old, and even, he can be a psychopath.

In conclusion, as I see it, we can meet foreign people from Internet, but we must be careful, and just give a little information in order to make new friends.

Neither in the ingredients nor in the specifications it was said something about peanuts. Then, when I ate the first bite felt asif I was short of air and I lost consciousness. Afterward, I woke up in hospital. 

I want to tell you that I am allergic to peanuts. After all the situation I am tired, but I am also angry. Peanuts do not appear in the menu. So, I decided To complain to your restaurant and ask you to change the menu. I would like you the refund the money that I had to pay in advance.

I met my friend Hannah two years ago, in a summer camp, which is near my town. We have got on well with each other since the first day.

She is from Ireland and she is seventeen years old. She has got curly, long and light hair. She has got the eyes between blue and green, everyone likes her lovely eyes. She is medium height, as me.

Hannah is generous and confident. If you have a problem, she will try to help you. She is polite, she hates people that are rude. She likes playing chess, she is a very good chess player. She told me she had won a regional championship in her country in the year 2016.

I think that we are different from each other, but when we are together it doesn't matter, and we enjoy the moment and we laugh a lot. 

COMPOSITION 1

 Hi everyone!

I'm Johana Gutiérrez and I'm sixteen years old. I've been living in Lobres all my life. And this is my new blog. Before, I had another blog different from this blog, in which I wrote my writing exercises of English. Here I'm going to write about the good moments that I may have in the future. And for the new readers, I'm going to introduce myself again.

I've got two great interests. They're different from the others. One is basketball. I usually go on Fridays at 17H30. And then, all of us go to a bar in the evening. Both my teammates and I are really hungry.

My other interest is to watch movies, especially superhero movies. I've only been three times in the cinema to watch MARVEL movies. All my cousins that live near me also like these movies. None of us has seen the new movie. We're waiting to watch it.

I like both interests, but I prefer basket because I can meet my teammates. Now they're my friends, too.

Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente (COMMENT 11)

What fantastic news! I do not know why it does not exist before. Everyone knows the wolves' situation. They are in danger of extinction in Spain. Time ago, in Sierra Nevada, wild wolves were living there, but now there they are no longer.

Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente was born in Spain at the year in 1928. He was a famous naturalist and a great defender of the wolves. He studied medicine and learned biology by himself. He carried out various radio and TV documentaries. But above all, his most famous documentary was "El hombre y la Tierra."

On the 4 of March of 1980, he died in a crash plane in Alaska with another four people. He wanted to record the "Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race." It is speculated that before he got on the helicopter, he said: What a beautiful place to die! All about the crash is mysterious. People say he was killed due to his growing political popularity though he was not interested in this.

I grew up with "El hombre y la Tierra" because my father is a big fan of him. He even has a ringtone from the documentary. I think that he was a great man.

Don't get sick... (COMMENT 10)

Nowadays, nothing is the same as before. Starting with this blog, since the pandemic began, all the blog posts are about coronavirus. I don't enjoy it. I am always writing about this virus and, sometimes I have any more to say about this issue.

On the one hand, some people think that we must be in our homes because of government orders as we are having sad news every day. With these new rules, the infections and number of deaths would decrease in few weeks.

On the other hand, we have the economy. A lot of businesses are closing, or they have serious troubles paying all debts. A few months ago, I read that a man who had a bar was bankrupt, and he had committed suicide because he was overwhelmed by the situation. The authorities should help them so that they can stay open and also be helping the economy.

In conclusion, if all of us are careful, we will get better. Remember to follow the prevention tips.

Aretha Franklin (COMMENT 9)

 Aretha Franklin was an American singer. She was born in 1942 and died three years ago, in 2018. She was known as "Lady Soul" or "Queen of Soul" because she was the greatest exponent of that genre.

I have read the lyrics and listened to the song.  She says that her lover prefers alcohol rather than her, although she has tried to help him. She went to the doctor's, and her father wanted to talk with him to improve.

She only wanted to love him, and when she understood that she couldn't be more next to him because he used her and treated her like a fool girl, she left him.

Although it's a song, and most probably it's fake, I support the character resolution. It's better to be alone than with a man that doesn't treat us as we deserve.

Sleeping (COMMENT 8)

Sleeping is essential for your health. Many people have difficulties at the time of doing this activity, and they have trouble. Some sleep a lot, and others sleep little.  We are talking about two extremes, which we call: sleeping like a log and insomnia.  

For start, I am going to explain these words. When we say sleeping like a log is a person who sleeps without waking up during all the sleep. There could be an earthquake or a music band playing and they would be still sleeping. How amazing! 

And following, when we talk about insomnia is a person who can't sleep many hours. They see all clock's hours at night due to anxiety or other facts that disturb sleep. This problem can be solved with medicines.

In conclusion, as I can see it, I don't sleep as I like. The majority of the days I sleep less than 8 hours, and sometimes when I go to bed earlier, I can't sleep. But I want to solve it.

Polyglots and Frontliners (COMMENT 7)

 What is a polyglot? A polyglot is a person who can understand texts and talk fluently in four or more languages, including his mother language. They are usually smart people or people who love travelling and discovering other cultures.

On the one hand, it is incredible can talk with people from other countries in their mother language without any help. Talking different languages is more and more essential because we are living in a world that is always moving. We can't stop, for work or enjoyment, we are traveling and meeting new people.

On the other hand, it isn't easy.  You must be revising them every week because you tend to forget them if you don't use them. It is not like riding a bike or swimming. If you do not use them, they will leave you.  And keeping a good level in all of them must be harder and harder.

As I see it, learning new languages is very important, and for this, I am learning English and French. In the future, I want to learn another language like German.

Year of challenges (COMMENT 6)

Challenges are around us every time. Overcoming them makes us stronger and helps us with future similar situations. For some people, their challenges are to get money, to buy a new home or a car. However, for other people is to fight an illness.

   

Around all of Spain, people have had a big challenge due to the COVID-19. Nevertheless, currently, we have other problems. There were snowfalls in most of the cities. It has shattered some infrastructures. And, I must add, the last earthquakes in the province of Granada. They have destroyed houses and buildings, too. Yet, it has affected the mental health of the people, as well.

Nowadays, my challenges are to get my French and English B1 and to pass the first year of Bachillerato. And of course, I wish both my acquaintances and I would have health.

In conclusion, challenges are present, but it depends on us how we choose to face them. I guess good humour and joy will always be better than being sad or pessimistic.

For our own good (COMMENT 5)

The coronavirus has changed our lives since last year. Many people are infected. Now, we are at the third wave. The third and the second wave are overpassing the amount of people affected by the first wave. Today, in Andalusia, we have reached the highest number of people dead in all the pandemic.

I want to share my experience with you. My mother works as a home help assistant. The person she is assisting, who is around 90 years old, was infected, but fortunately, she didn’t get symptoms. Unlike my mother, she got infected. Last Friday, she was afraid, and she decided to go to had done a PCR. She was tested negative.

Yesterday, I was determined to go to high school. But first, my mother decided to have another PCR done. I was waiting in Salobreña inside my car when my father came, to tell me that my mother had tested positive. All my world got down because this afternoon I had my exams at the Official Language School. I could do them via the Internet. I must be at house for ten days.

In my opinion, there are people that for their job must be careful, but sometimes we can’t avoid them. On the other hand, some people prefer not to follow the precautions or the rules.

Post-Brexit life and Washington’s Capitol (COMMENT 4)

 2021 would be like a phoenix bird, but now it seems the opposite. We only have lived eight days, but we can say that they are crazy.

Firstly, let’s talk about the United Kingdom. They said goodbye to Europe in 2020. Some years ago, they had achieved the famous Brexit. Word made up of Britain and exit. But now, the UK and the European Union have signed an agreement about the free market.

Secondly, last Thursday, I woke up earlier because I had to go to the medical center at 8.30. When I returned home at 9.15, my sister, who had escorted me, and I put the news on TV. Washington’s Capitol was being stormed. Hundreds of people went there after some tweets from the future former president, Donald Trump. He was encouraging them that the elections for him had been a fraud. The people understood these tweets, and they took up the Capitol. Four people have died, and today, the media have confirmed another one, a Capitol police officer.

All the situation in the United States disappoints me. I hope that with the new president, violence problems would decrease. I think that it is an incredible country, due to this they are the first global power.

COVID-19 (COMMENT 3)

In November 2019, in the Chinese country a new strange illness was discovered, coronavirus was called due to its shape if we look through a microscope.

Starting in 2020, we didn’t expect what was going to happen. In March, the situation in Spain was uncontrollable. The Coronavirus was in all of Spain, we hadn’t the necessary resources to fight against it. The number of infected didn’t stop increasing as well as the number of deceased. Spanish government banned going out to the street, only to shop the necessary and the people who had to work. We were locked down, stay at home, they told us. Four months later we were allowed to go out, but now with new rules.

All the celebrations from this time have been very strange. Summer without festivities, Christmas without family, and January without parades. But it can change. Now, we have a vaccine or being a little more specific, vaccines. In Spain two different vaccines have been marketed by Pfizer and Moderna companies.

In my opinion, vaccination can be a good option, but always having in mind that it has dangers. 

Dreams (COMMENT 2 )

We don't need a dreamcatcher to make our dreams a reality. For me, it's obvious that some dreams, working hard can be a reality, but other dreams, are stupid, and trying to get them is a loss of time.

Living under the water would be amazing and spectacular. Every morning you would see the fishes and the oceans' elements. But this, for an ordinary person it is impossible. Why am I saying this? To start, homes under the water must be very expensive as all the things have to be prepared to cope with the pressure. We also add that you should have a submarine to be able to go to the land, and get the things for the day to day or to have a social life.

The last point to talk about is NASA and the women. NASA is preparing a plan, Artemis I, like the Greek goddess of the Moon and the twin sister of Apollo. Only 12 humans have been on the Moon, and all were male. A man last walked on the Moon in 1972 and with this new plan NASA is thinking about sending the first woman there by 2024. NASA calls for $28 billion in funding through 2025.

Everything can be a reality, from living under the water to going to the Moon. If you wish, you will get it, but you should always be cautious.

Bees and flowers (COMMENT 1)

When everyone sees a bee, he automatically thinks that the bee is going to sting. There I am the first that start to enter in panic. But do not worry anymore my friend, stinging people is not their task.

Bees have a principal role in pollination like the wind or more they help the pollen to arrive in the flowers. They are the main insects to commit the pollination. But also, bees make honey and wax, which we use for candles and other things.

Now, just before killing a bee or any other insect, think about how they help nature and, really for all of us. They make so much for the Earth, so thank you very much bees!
