DART MISSION (COMMENT 11)

 Actually it seems like science fiction, NASA has been carrying out a mission called the Double Asteroid Redirection Test or more simply, DART, to slow down the impact of an asteroid. This technology was designed to impact on asteroids in space, in the case that in the future an asteroid causes something that alters the safety of the planet, as I said, something that seems to be taken from a science fiction movie or book.

Although DART was launched on November 24, 2021 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, the mission will end in the fall of 2022. On this date the asteroid in question will be 11 kilometers from Earth.

Just when the asteroid is at that distance, the spaceship will achieve the deviation of the impact by crashing into the asteroid, approximately with a speed for 6,6 km / s, with the help of an camera aboard, DRACO, and sophisticated software. The collision will change the speed of the asteroid in its orbit.

For me, it is a great fact because thanks to this mission the deviation of asteroids by impact kinetic, they can test the method. This fact can open doors to new methods.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FAVOURITE CELEBRATION IN THE YEAR? WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT IT? (COMPOSITION 3)

 Of all festivals in Spain, I like The Three Wise Men's Day. It is on 6th January. Each year, I usually go with my family to the town's square to open my presents.

In general, since Christmas Day, all of these days are magic, but this day, for me, it is the most magical day. You are with your family, and playing with your new toys. I remove the Christmas decoration, I put the Christmas tree in the box and I turn off the Christmas lights.

Also, it is a little sad day, because we return to school in one or two days. But the positive side is that you see all you friends again and show them your presents.

This year, for me, will be different, because I lost a very, very special and lovely person. I try to spend the day with happiness with all my family, in special my little cousins, who live this day innocently.

SLOW, BUT WHERE'S THE POINT IS HURRYING? (COMMENT 10)

For as long as we can remember, we have been wishing we were older to do this or that. When you are a child, you want to be older so that you can go out with your friends on the street. When we are teenagers, we want to be of legal age, so that we can be more independent. Or so we think.

When we are older, we realize that most of our lives are spent waiting, waiting to grow up, waiting for the weekend, waiting for vacations, waiting to finish school ...

This really does not make sense, we do not get to appreciate in detail those moments in which we wait. These make us be born to die without actually living the period between these two happily.

To sum up, we focus on the future without living in the present. But we must learn more slowly and enjoy the moment. Don't forget, Carpe Diem.

OUR RIGHTS TO WATER (COMMENT 9)

Nowadays, we need water for anything. Absolutely for all. If we are dehydrated, we drink water. If the floor or dishes are dirty, we use water. We also use water for cooking.

But, in recent years we are suffering a period of lack of rain. And besides, we waste the water. For example, we spend a lot of time bathing or we leave the tap running when we brush our teeth.

Besides, I would also add how some factories dump their toxic waste into rivers and pollute them, making it impossible for people to consume it. This is a big problem in populations that are supplied with water from rivers and cannot irrigate, causing not letting the fruits grow correctly. In the end, water pollution ends up affecting the entire economy.

In general, we must protect and take care of the water. On a personal level, we must start consuming less water. And the leaders of the countries should control the pollution of the rivers by the industries.

A COP TO SORT OUT CLIMATE CHANGE MATTERS? (COMMENT 8)

In recent decades, temperatures have been getting higher and higher. The climatic events have intensified, for example we are having more floods or more forest fires like in Australia at the beginning of last year or already the usual summer fires in California.

Because of this, to combat climate change, around 200 countries have gathered at COP26 in Glasgow, where they have agreed to reduce CO2 emissions, among other related issues, and have also talked about stopping deforestation and planting new trees, so they would absorb the CO2.

Although, this initiative has not been entirely successful because countries as China, Russia, India or Australia that have more methane emissions, which cause global warming, and stop carbon emissions, which produce CO2, have not signed.

To sum up, I think that we are still in time to save our planet, but we can't stop climate change if some countries that produce lots of emissions don't make an effort and use renewable energy.

SUPER MARIO BROS (COMMENT 7)

Over the years, Mario has become more and more famous since 1981, being the protagonist or another character in a lot of games. Now, Mario has 168 games for different devices. Mario has become one of the most recognized logos of the Nintendo company.

When I was a little girl, I used to play Mario Bros on my red Nintendo DS with my sister. I was always Luigi in the mod multiplayer. My parents bought it for me for Christmas, and that day my sister and I just went down to have lunch. We spent all day playing Mario Bros, also Indiana Jones Lego. Although, I must also say that I broke my Nintendo due to the frustration of losing in the games.

Later, I got other games of Mario Bros, like Mario Cars or Super Mario 64. When I was older, my uncle Antonio gave us a WII. It brought The New Super Mario Bros. I used to die, and once I blocked the game due to all the times I died. We had to restart the game over and over again.

I would buy another Nintendo only to play Mario Bros games. I enjoy passing levels, fighting against the bad of Bowser, and saving the princess Peach.

WHY IS ANDALUCIA SO ATTRACTIVE FOR STUDENTS? (COMPOSITION 2)

Andalucia is a region in the south of Spain. It has all: beautiful national parks, a sandy coastline, iconic architecture such as "Alhambra"...

Granada is one provinve in Andalucia. Situated in the west, it has a prestigious university, considered one of the best in Spain. People came from all the world came here to study. Granada has the beach in hour and the highest mountain in the peninsulain another hour. Without forgetting the charm that the city has by itself and it is the capital of the province.

Besides, Andalucia is not very expensive as other comunities in Spain. For example, the cost of the flats varies, but, 250€ to 300€ a month for a decent city centre room is the current rate. However, Málaga is a little more expensive due to tourism.

To sum up, Andalucia is so beautiful. Either to study or to visit, you will fall in love with it.

NEVER GIVE UP! (COMMENT 6)

We are facing problems and difficulties every day, most of which are easy to solve with more or less effort. But there are these problems, those problems that we can’t solve and stay there. We try, try and try it and nothing.

It is easy to say “don’t give up”, but we know that it is more complicated than this to do. The problem is bigger and bigger, and we don’t just know what to do. We do not ask for help because of our pride. We think that tomorrow, would be another day, and it would disappear alone. We wake up, and we know that it is again, and we start to panic.

It is like when we have a test, and we say it is in one week, "I have a lot of time", we believe. And the last night before the test, we start crying and panicking and thinking "Why didn't I start some days before?".

We must know to give a solution to a problem just at the moment that we have it. And if we do not have them, we should think of answers in the next few days. And if you have the same problem as my example, you should organize your time.

DIGITAL CURRENCIES (COMMENT 5)

Little by little, the world is changing. We passed from pesetas to euros, and in the future to digital money. And how knows?, all people could have the same money and travelling would not be difficult regarding the exchange of currency money from one type to another type.

Although there is fraud about this theme, it is a reality that they are having success. The most famous digital money is Bitcoin. In his starts in 2009, its value was 0.0026 euros, but now, nowadays it has a value of 52.294,40 euros. We know that the price is always changing but it is obviously still too much money.

Others cryptocoins have not the same chance, and did not progress. And talking about this issue, there are people who create new cryptocoins to generate expectations and only steal.

In the future, I want to invest on this new currency. As time passes, more comfort will come and everything will be easier for us. We have been living in a capitalist society, we only must accept it.

HAPPINEES (COMMENT 4)

Nowadays, we don't pay much attention if we are really happy or just think we are happy. We try to fill that void with things that make us happy for a short time, then we return to search for that happiness. We simply care about feeling good and that our people are good.

So, what makes us happy? We try to search for happiness through material things without realizing that we really find it in such insignificant things, but when we lose these things, it makes us feel as if we are missing a piece of ourselves.

Although we cannot forget that to live a comfortable life and living in this capitalist society we need money. Money does not give us happiness but it helps to maintain it. It is not the same to worry about not being able to feed your children and pay for other necessary things, than to be worried about not being able to buy the latest generation mobile.

In conclusion, it is easy to be happy being with the people we love and doing the things that we are passionate of, the really difficult thing from my point of view is how to maintain it.

LIMITS(COMMENT 3)

We set our own limits every moment, we always know that we can give more of ourselves. We know our capabilities and what we are capable of doing.

Setting goals is fine, we can achieve them little by little, but we know that everything is more complicated than that. We prefer doing anything productive or being with friends and forgetting our obligations with a simple: it is too much or a similar short phrase.

Most of the time we think that there is no time to do homework or when you see that it is 11:55 and you see that the delivery time is at 12 o'clock, we understand that the problem was not time but lack of interest with which we did it and let time pass.

To sum up, we must organize time fundamentally and above all we must put more interest in the studies and the tasks we have to do and in the future we will achieve our dreams.

DO YOU LIKE SCIENCE FICTION STORIES/FILMS? WHY? (COMPOSITION 1)

 A few years ago, on a dark winter Friday night, I was really bored, when suddenly, I saw a fragment of a Star Wars film. I used to think that type of films was boring. But that night decided to see the first film of the saga.

It was incredible, there was action and drama, there were a lot of explosions. After that night I watched all the saga in the next weeks. What I like the most are superhero films. Last Friday, I went with my friends to the cinema to watch "Venom 2". Also, I like "Avatar" and I am expecting the second part.

I do not like all the films of the kind. For example, I hate "Matrix" or "Back to the future". I will never see them in my life.

To sum up, I like the films that have a good plot, action, and a little drama. But I do not read anything about this type.

PAU GASOL (COMMENT 2)

Pau Gasol was born on 6th July 1980 in Barcelona, Spain. He started to play basketball when he was at school. In 1997, at the age of 16, he enter FC Barcelona Basketball. Although in the past some American universities offered him to study there with a scholarship, it was in 2001 when he moved to the United States to play in the team Memphis Grizzlies.

Also, he played at Angeles Lakers, where he met his good friend Kobe Bryant, who once said “Pau Gasol is incredible”, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, and Portland Trail Blazers. He was the second Spanish player at the NBA. This year, he returned to Spain playing one more time with the FC Barcelona Basketball.

After 24 years playing basketball, One World Cup (2006), two NBA rings, three Eurobasket (2009, 2011, and 2015), three ACB leagues (1999, 2001, 2021), and a Cup’s King (2001) he has decided to retire from the basketball this October.

Personally, searching for information about Pau Gasol I have seen what a splendid player he has been, apart from how he helps society, and I can’t understand why the NBA hasn't included him at the list top-75 best NBA’s players in history. He must be in it.

SUMMER (COMMENT 1)

Next week, high school is starting, which means that the summer is over. The summer has been different from the others, but I have enjoyed this year more.

My summer started when I went to the cottage of a friend of mine. I spent the day laughing and dancing. On 25th June it was Andrea’s birthday. On July 19th I went to Salobreña, and we decided to go to a beach restaurant, and there I had a little dispute. They didn’t give me the hamburger until one hour later. On the 23rd, I went to the Molvizar’s festivities, where I met my friends.

On August 1st, I went to Isla Magica and Agua Magica. My day started at 4 am, and I arrived in Sevilla at 11 am. I went to an attraction called Jaguar. I was nervous, but it was incredible. I returned to Lobres the next day at 2 am. Although, all summer wasn’t great. I had to go to emergencies due to an infection in one of my teeth surgeries. The last day was my birthday.

The summer has gone, but we can enjoy it a little more, not forgetting the difficult and desperate current situation.

A NEW YEAR

This is the last year I am in high school. Now I am in 2º Bachillerato.

Boot Camps COMPOSITION 8

For a start, I would like to explain what a boot camp is. A boot camp is a place where boys and girls go when their parents think that they have a misbehaviour. Also, boot camps are part of the correctional and penal system of some countries. These programs are based in the military recruit training camps. Are boot camps a good idea?

Personally, I think that is not a good idea. In the majority of the cases, it doesn't work. Their behaviour does not change and force them is not a good idea.

In USA, they are very popular, but also, very critized. Teenagers go there to bee free of higher prison sentences. State-run boot camps were banned in Florida on 2006, because Martin Lee Anderson, a 14-year-old boy died while he was in one. He was physical collapsed due to the training, but the instructors beat him and encouraged him to continue. They tried to revive him with ammonia, but he suffocated. The parents had signed a contract authorizing the use of physical force.

Although there are different types of boot camps, the ones that are used to change the misbehaviour will be banned. We have other solutions to change and help teenagers not using violence.

We Are Still Standing (COMMENT 14)

We are still standing; it is true. But, how much has our daily life changed? Everybody knows that life has changed too much; our habits, our plans, our ways to socialize... are not as they were two years ago.

If someone had told us in 2018 that our lives would drastically change in just two years, we would probably have thought that he was mad. After all, we have gone through with this pandemic due to COVID-19, it is good news to hear that thanks to the vaccines and all our efforts we are beating the coronavirus. Regarding vaccines, I do not understand why people are against them. Since the first vaccine has discovered, the vaccines have saved millions of lives.

To sum up, after a year through this horrible pandemic, we have to be honest and admit that, every day mistakes are still made. Therefore, we should be more concerned than before and stay home these Easter holidays.

GRANADA FC, our Local Heroes!! (COMMENT 13)

For a start, I am going to write about Granada FC. It was created on 14th April. Indeed, it is the same date as the Spanish Second Republic. What a coincidence! Nowadays, the football team plays in Primera División, as Premier League. Last year, it beat some important and strong teams as the Valencia CF or the Athletic Club.

Currently, they are doing an excellent season in LaLiga and the Europe League. I am not too much into football, but I think that they deserve it because of the sacrifice, and effort that they are doing in each match. On the whole, although I do not like football very much, I am proud of our local football team. Besides, I remember when I went to Los Carmenes with my sister. We enjoyed a good time there watching a great match.

Time to be Honest (COMMENT 12)

What can I say about the third term? It is a well-known fact that it is the final and the most difficult term. I do not know why, but it might be due to the fatigue of the school year. Or just it is springtime, and we are more excited.

This third term is extremely challenging for me since I have my English and French exams to pass the B1 certification. How nervous I am !! Nevertheless, I promise I will do my best. As well, during this final term, I have to do much practice since I get highly nervous when I am under exam conditions.

All in all, I will study and do my homework to get good marks, because in the final term they are more important. My English teacher is always telling us that the party is over, so all of us should do our best to reach the summit.
